#139 Quarry Temple Sadahali

 

Quarry Temple is located in Sadahalli, A huge area of land has been dug, it still amazes to know that a temple which was present at the center of the quarry was left untouched. There is a bridge connecting the quarry boundary to the temple which is located at the center of the quarry.

While it was a bit scary to approach, the temple itself was very peaceful despite all the destruction around it.

Sadahalli near Bangalore airport has a large quarry. Interestingly, the temple atop the original hill has been retained, and is standing on a tower of granite, while the stone all around has been mined. The approach to the temple is via a 3-feet wide “bridge” which is actually a thin granite wall.

The original Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple was built in the 9th century. The first phase is believed to have been built by the Bana Queen Ratnavali.
