#20 Halasuru Shiva Temple Ulsoor_10KM


Halasuru Someshwara Temple is located in Halasuru(Ulsoor) in Bangalore, India. The oldest temple in the city dating back to the Chola period, it is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

हलासुरू सोमेश्वर मंदिर भारत के बैंगलोर में हलासुरू (उल्सूर) में स्थित है। शहर का सबसे पुराना मंदिर जो चोल काल के समय का है, यह हिंदू देवता शिव को समर्पित है।

In the "Gazetter of Mysore" (1887), Benjamin Lewis Rice describes a legend behind the consecration of the temple. Kempe Gowda, while on a hunt, rode far away from his capital Yalahanka. Being tired, he rested under a tree and fell asleep. 

"गजेटर ऑफ मैसूर" (1887) में, बेंजामिन लुईस राइस ने मंदिर के अभिषेक के पीछे एक पौराणिक कथा का वर्णन किया है। केम्पे गौड़ा, एक शिकार पर, अपनी राजधानी यालहंका से बहुत दूर चले गए। थके होने के कारण, वह एक पेड़ के नीचे विश्राम किया और सो गया।

According to another version of the legend, King Jayappa Gowda (1420-1450 CE) from a minor dynasty of the Yelahanka Nada Prabhus was hunting in a forest near the present Halasuru area, when he felt tired and relaxed under a tree. 

किंवदंती के एक अन्य संस्करण के अनुसार, येलहंका नाडा प्रभु के एक मामूली राजवंश से राजा जयप्पा गौड़ा (1420-1450 सीई) वर्तमान हलासुरु क्षेत्र के पास एक जंगल में शिकार कर रहे थे, जब उन्हें एक पेड़ के नीचे थका हुआ और आराम महसूस हुआ।

According to Michell, the temple plan follows many of the basic elements of Vijayanagara architecture though at a lower scale. The temple has a square sanctum (garbhagriha) which is surrounded by a narrow passageway. 

माइकेल के अनुसार, मंदिर की योजना विजयनगर वास्तुकला के कई मूल तत्वों का अनुसरण करती है, हालांकि निचले स्तर पर। मंदिर में एक चौकोर गर्भगृह (गर्भगृह) है जो एक संकरे मार्ग से घिरा है।

'Chandra Choodeswarar' means the Eshwara who wears the Moon (Chandra) as an ornament on his crest or tuft of hair on top of the head, Shiva's consort Parvathi is worshiped here as Maragathambal. ‘Maragatham’ means green and ‘Ambal’ means mother.
