#70 Ramalingeswara Temple, Avani_103KM


The Ramalingeshwara group of temples situated in Avani town is constructed in the dravida style. According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the temple is an ornate 10th-century Nolamba dynasty construction which was partially renovated later by the Chola dynasty.

अवनि नगर में स्थित मंदिरों का रामलिंगेश्वर समूह द्रविड़ शैली में निर्मित है। भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (एएसआई) के अनुसार, मंदिर एक अलंकृत 10 वीं शताब्दी का नोलम्बा राजवंश निर्माण है जिसे आंशिक रूप से चोल वंश द्वारा बाद में पुनर्निर्मित किया गया था।

Avani is a place of great antiquity. According to the ASI, an inscription here dated 399 A.D. refers to it. Later inscriptions call it the "Gaya of the south". Legend has it that Avani was the abode of the Hindu saint Valmiki (author of the epic Ramayana) and that the Hindu god Rama visited Avani during his return to Ayodhya from Lanka.

अवनि महान प्राचीनता का एक स्थान है। एएसआई के अनुसार, यहां एक शिलालेख 399 ए डी को संदर्भित करता है। बाद के शिलालेख इसे "दक्षिण का गया" कहते हैं। किंवदंती है कि अवनी हिंदू संत वाल्मीकि (महाकाव्य रामायण के लेखक) के निवास स्थान थे और हिंदू देवता राम ने लंका से अयोध्या लौटने के दौरान अवनि का दौरा किया था।



The temple complex comprises four major shrines, one each for Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna. There are other minor shrines, such as those for Vali and Sugriva.

मंदिर परिसर में चार प्रमुख मंदिर हैं, जिनमें से प्रत्येक में राम, लक्ष्मण, भरत और शत्रुघ्न हैं। अन्य छोटे मंदिर हैं, जैसे कि वली और सुग्रीव।

'Chandra Choodeswarar' means the Eshwara who wears the Moon (Chandra) as an ornament on his crest or tuft of hair on top of the head, Shiva's consort Parvathi is worshiped here as Maragathambal. ‘Maragatham’ means green and ‘Ambal’ means mother.
